Kenya Bans Import and Export of Harmful Goods

The Kenyan government has released a detailed list of goods prohibited from import and export, in accordance with the East African Community Customs Management Act. This list is outlined in the Second and Third Schedules of the Act and encompasses a wide range of items deemed harmful, illegal, or otherwise unacceptable under customs law.

The banned items include mercury-based cosmetics, hazardous waste, counterfeit goods, and narcotics, reflecting the government's commitment to protecting public health, financial integrity, and environmental safety through customs enforcement. The Kenyan government has indicated that the list is not exhaustive, suggesting that additional items may also be subject to prohibition based on specific provisions of the Act.
