Oyo Governor Makinde Assures Rescue of Kidnapped Students

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced that efforts to rescue kidnapped school children and teachers are actively ongoing. He emphasized that the safety of the people in Oyo State remains a top priority for his administration.

Security agencies are intensifying operations to secure the release of the abducted individuals from Oriire Local Government Area. A temporary curfew has been imposed in ten local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park to strengthen security operations and facilitate the rescue efforts.

The curfew is part of ongoing operations approved to create conditions necessary for the rescue. Governor Makinde urged residents in the affected areas to cooperate with security agencies during the curfew period.

He also mentioned that measures are being taken to ensure schools can resume safely without compromising the security of pupils and teachers. Additionally, the state is preparing for the delivery of surveillance aircraft to enhance aerial monitoring and emergency response capabilities.
