Kogi State Electoral Commission Sets Date for 2026 Local Government Elections

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has announced October 17, 2026, as the date for the local government elections in the state. The Chairman of the commission, Mr.

Nderi Mamman, revealed this during a stakeholders' meeting in Lokoja. Mamman stated that preparations are in full swing for the chairmanship and councillorship elections in all 21 local government areas and 239 electoral wards.

Political parties must adhere strictly to electoral laws and KOSIEC guidelines to ensure a free, fair, credible, and peaceful electoral process. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will oversee the sponsorship of candidates in line with the electoral act.
