GOSHEN Foundation Advocates for Iyah PHC Malaria Drug Inclusion

The Golden Generation Women for Sound Health and Development Foundation (GOSHEN Foundation) has called for the inclusion of Iyah Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) in the distribution of malaria commodities. This request follows findings from Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) and Supportive Supervision Visits (SSVs) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

GOSHEN Programme Officer Oluremi Haruna highlighted that while many health facilities benefit from the Support to Malaria Elimination Project (SMEP), Iyah PHC has been overlooked, jeopardizing access to essential malaria services. The SMEP, funded by the Islamic Development Bank through the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, is executed in partnership with the Federal Government and Kogi State Government.

During an advocacy visit on September 17, 2026, GOSHEN engaged Famkris Healthcare Initiative (FHCI) to address this gap. Dr. Salamatu Yahaya, State Team Lead of Famkris, acknowledged the demand for more health facilities but noted that inclusion decisions involve the Kogi State Government and other partners.

She assured that Iyah PHC would be considered for future inclusion.
