Kogi PDP Chairman Commits to Boosting Women's Participation in Politics

The Chairman of the Kogi State People's Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammed Gambo, vowed to increase women's participation in politics during a state-level consultative forum in Lokoja. The event, organized by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room with UK Foreign Commonwealth Office support, focused on improving inclusivity and enhancing women's roles in the electoral process.

Gambo disclosed plans to set aside seats for women to ensure adequate representation and implement mentorship programs to empower women in politics. He emphasized the need to address cultural barriers and stereotypes hindering women's political engagement.

The PDP chairman highlighted ongoing efforts to engage communities, challenge stereotypes, and promote flexible schedules to accommodate women's family responsibilities. Gambo expressed confidence in the party's commitment to restoring women's rightful positions in politics, citing past achievements in women's representation during the PDP era in Kogi.

He stressed the importance of training sessions and resource-building to enhance women's confidence and skills in political participation.
