KOICA Boosts Nigeria's Digital Skills and Education Initiatives

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is actively supporting digital skills, education, and entrepreneurship in Nigeria through partnerships with government institutions and development organizations. Mr Ki-Hyun Baik, KOICA’s Senior Deputy Country Director, reported that the agency has a budget of approximately 82.74 billion Korean won and has trained about 2,000 Nigerians through various development and scholarship programs in Korea.

The UNDP's Claire Henshaw emphasized the importance of KOICA's collaboration in building platforms for digital innovation and business development, particularly through the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE), which is currently under construction. This initiative aims to equip young Nigerians with essential skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Additionally, Dr Aisha Garba from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) noted KOICA's contributions to digital education and teacher capacity building, particularly through the Smart Education Project, which has established six key achievements in enhancing learning outcomes.
