Kwankwaso Warns Tinubu: State Control Not a Guarantee

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), asserted that President Bola Tinubu's control of more than 30 states does not ensure his victory in the upcoming 2027 election. Speaking during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Kwankwaso referenced the 2015 election, where then-President Goodluck Jonathan, despite being in power and having the support of about 20 states, lost to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso emphasized that the belief that having numerous governors guarantees electoral success is misguided. He criticized the performance of several governors, particularly in northern Nigeria, claiming they have failed to deliver meaningful development.

Kwankwaso warned Nigerians against making another costly political mistake in 2027, stressing the need for a committed and capable leader to address the nation's challenges. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the NDC governorship candidate in Rivers, also spoke at the event, commending party members for their dedication.
