Kwara Police Arrest Three for Alleged Grave Exhumation
In Omupo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, three suspects, Abu Jimoh, Ayo Jimoh, and Mukaila Bello, were arrested for allegedly exhuming nine graves and removing the heads of the bodies. The incident was revealed in May 2026 when community members found several graves dug up while preparing to bury a deceased person.
The arrests occurred on October 8 at approximately 5 am, as the brothers were allegedly digging another grave. Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi stated that the suspects confessed during interrogation, identifying Bello, a suspected herbalist, as the buyer of the removed body parts.
However, the police have not yet recovered the human parts. Ayo Jimoh denied involvement, claiming they were chasing a rat that had entered the cemetery.
Abu Jimoh provided a similar account, stating they were on their way to the farm when they saw the rat. Bello, a native doctor from Ajase-Ipo, denied purchasing human parts, asserting his dealings with the brothers were limited to buying wood.
The suspects will be arraigned in court after investigations.
