Kwara Governor Praises Tinubu's Fuel Subsidy Removal

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Governor of Kwara State, remarked on the benefits states have experienced from President Bola Tinubu's fuel subsidy removal policy, which was implemented shortly after Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. Speaking on Friday in Lagos during a visit from the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Abdulrazaq described the subsidy removal as a bold policy move.

He recalled a meeting where governors expressed concern over potential riots due to the subsidy removal, but noted that the nation was shocked by the lack of unrest following its implementation. He stated that the policy has led to a 40% reduction in state debt, indicating a positive financial impact on Kwara State and potentially other states across Nigeria.
