Akeem Busari Leads Flamingos to WAFU-B U17 Cup Victory

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter, congratulated Coach Akeem Busari for leading Nigeria’s U17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, to victory at the WAFU-B U17 Girls’ Cup held in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. The Flamingos secured a decisive 4-0 win against Togo in the final, marking their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament, where they scored a total of 17 goals and conceded only two.

Their path to the title included wins over Niger Republic (5-0), Ghana (4-2), Burkina Faso (2-0), and hosts Côte d’Ivoire (2-0). SWAN's Chairman, Ayodeji Ismail, noted Busari's previous engagement with grassroots coaches in Kwara State and expressed pride in his achievement.

The association commended the team and encouraged them to maintain their commitment as they prepare for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next month, expressing optimism that their recent triumph would serve as a strong foundation for success in the global tournament.
