Labour Party Accuses Deji Adeyanju of Blackmailing Peter Obi, Denies Bribery Claims

The Labour Party has accused activist Deji Adeyanju of blackmailing Peter Obi, interim national publicity secretary LP Prince Tony Akeni stated. Adeyanju is criticized for allegedly pursuing personal ambitions without principles and attacking Obi to gain political relevance ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party dismissed Adeyanju's claims that Obi admitted to investing Anambra State funds in his family business, calling them illogical and fabricated. Akeni clarified that Adeyanju misunderstood a cultural gesture as bribery, emphasizing that it is common in African traditions.

The statement highlighted Obi's humility and simplicity, noting his presidential candidacy for the 2023 general elections. Adeyanju's actions were likened to substance abuse by the LP, following his shift from a critic to an ally of President Bola Tinubu.
