Lagos Implements Hygiene Upgrades Amid Ebola Alert

In response to a global health alert regarding an Ebola virus outbreak in Central East Africa, the Lagos State Safety Commission has ordered an upgrade of hygiene measures in hotels, nightclubs, and other social establishments. The directive, issued by the Commission's Director General, Lanre Mojola, comes amid enhanced biosecurity screening protocols at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, a major international travel hub.

Although there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Lagos or Nigeria, the Commission stressed the importance of proactive measures to protect residents and visitors. The advisory mandates the installation of hand hygiene stations, increased cleaning and disinfection routines, and daily health checks for staff.

Additionally, venues are required to manage crowd capacity to prevent overcrowding and ensure optimal ventilation. The statement also included contact information for reporting suspected cases of severe fever illness, reinforcing the need for vigilance and compliance with safety protocols.
