Lagos State Government Vows Infrastructure Upgrade to Tackle Flooding

The Lagos State Government, represented by Tokunbo Wahab, reaffirmed its dedication to improving infrastructure to combat flooding. Following heavy rainfall at the start of the year, the government is focusing on upgrading drainage infrastructure across the state.

Wahab emphasized the need to address encroachment on drainage systems and highlighted ongoing drainage projects. The government received complaints about encroachment in the Ikota River alignment area, leading to the issuance of stop-work orders and the removal of obstructions.

Contractors have been instructed to expedite drainage projects to prevent flooding in the region. The government aims to enhance public infrastructure to minimize the long-term effects of flooding and ensure the safety of residents.
