Lagos Tops Nigeria's Business Environment Rankings

A report released on March 28, 2026, during a diplomatic roundtable in Abuja, ranks Lagos as the best state for doing business in Nigeria. The report, conducted by Nairametrics, assesses the business environment across the country and emphasizes Lagos's strong regulatory framework, reliable electricity, efficient land administration, and robust infrastructure, including airport and rail networks.

It highlights the importance of addressing local bottlenecks that affect daily business operations and notes that while progress is being made at the state level, federal reforms remain crucial. The report identifies key gaps, such as issues related to investor aftercare and uneven digital connectivity in non-urban areas.

It also reveals that the South West region accounts for four of the top ten states, while the North Central has three, and the North West has two. Enugu, ranked sixth, faces challenges in investor aftercare and access to credit.

The report recommends establishing investor aftercare units and improving logistics infrastructure.
