Abdul Ganiyu Obasa Confirmed as Agege LGA Chairman After Tunde Azeez's Resignation

Abdul Ganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, has been appointed as the substantive chairman of Agege Local Government in Nigeria. This confirmation came after the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, resigned due to health issues.

The decision was made during a plenary session at the Agege council chamber, where lawmakers unanimously voted to confirm Abdul Ganiyu in an acting capacity. Abdul Ganiyu had initially shown interest in contesting the chairmanship in the upcoming 2025 local government elections but dropped his candidacy to prevent a leadership vacuum.

The council members emphasized the need to improve transparency, accountability, and monitoring of development projects.
