Lagos Hosts Africa's First Electric Powerboat Racing Championship

Lagos is set to host Africa's first-ever electric powerboat racing championship, the E1 Series, on October 4-5, 2025, at the Victoria Island Lagoon. The event will feature nine elite global racing teams competing for supremacy on the water, including Team Drogba and Team Aoki.

The Lagos State Government announced temporary road closures to ensure smooth hosting of the championship, urging residents to embrace alternative routes. The E1 Series aims to showcase green technology, boost tourism, and celebrate Lagos as a hub for sporting events.
