Lagos Taskforce to Enforce Traffic and Environmental Laws

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, also known as the Lagos State Taskforce, announced plans to arrest and prosecute traffic and environmental offenders after a one-month public sensitization campaign. Chairman Adetayo Akerele revealed this on Thursday following an advocacy program themed “Towards Achieving Traffic and Environmental Orderliness and Public Safety in Lagos State: The Dos and Don’ts.” The campaign was conducted across various local government areas to educate residents about prohibited conduct and the repercussions of violating traffic and environmental regulations.
Akerele emphasized that the initiative aimed to familiarize residents with the laws and encourage compliance before enforcement begins. He mentioned that the campaign included distributing flyers detailing violations.
The enforcement will focus on the traffic sector reform law of 2015 and the environmental reform law of 2017, with the goal of improving road safety and promoting environmental sanitation across Lagos State.
