LaLiga Confirms No Authorization for Messi's Return

Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, addressed the situation regarding Lionel Messi's potential return to FC Barcelona during an appearance on RTVE's sport show "Estudio Estadio." Tebas refuted claims made by former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, who suggested that Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, is interested in bringing Messi back to Camp Nou. Tebas insisted that LaLiga has not authorized any measures regarding Messi's return.

He recalled that Messi left Barcelona as a free agent in August 2021 after the club failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Following his departure, Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain and later moved to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Tebas's comments clarify the current stance of LaLiga on this matter, emphasizing that there is no green light for Messi's return to Barcelona in 2023.
