Lawmaker Blames Security Gaps for Kebbi Schoolgirls’ Abduction, Calls for Urgent Review

Adewumi Adeyemi, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, blamed security lapses for the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State. The incident occurred when gunmen stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, killing the vice principal and abducting the students.

Adeyemi emphasized the need for a review of Nigeria's security system, citing intelligence gaps, weak prevention measures, and poor coordination among security agencies. He called for an overhaul of security operations, improved intelligence gathering, and early warning mechanisms to prevent future tragedies.
