LCCI Advocates for Nigeria as Emerging Export Hub

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), represented by Mr. Ley Kupoluyi, has called for the full exploitation of Nigeria's export potential to establish the country as an emerging export hub.

This declaration was made during the LCCI Export Group's two-day export development program, which focused on the theme of indigenous products in the global market. Kupoluyi highlighted the necessity of diversifying Nigeria's economy away from oil dependency, especially in light of current geopolitical tensions and oil price volatility.

He pointed out that Nigeria has the capacity to broaden its export base, particularly in non-oil sectors such as agro-commodities and selected manufactured goods. However, he noted that there are gaps in value addition and quality standards that need to be addressed to improve market access.

The program aims to equip Nigerian businesses with the technical skills required to compete effectively in international markets and emphasizes the importance of moving beyond primary product exports to enhance competitiveness and foreign exchange earnings.
