Leprosy Mission Nigeria and Sweden Launch Empowerment Project

Leprosy Mission Nigeria, represented by project coordinator Ruben Isaiah, announced a new initiative in collaboration with the Sweden Mission Council on Tuesday during a workshop for the project implementation advisory committee. This project aims to empower leprosy patients, disabled individuals, and vulnerable women over a three-year period from 2025 to 2028, covering six states: Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Kogi State alone has approximately 150,000 disabled individuals, including leprosy patients and vulnerable youth. The project will focus on climate change adaptation, agricultural suitability, and resource management, aiming to train 180 women and youth with digital technology skills.

Additionally, at least 200 young men and women will receive certification in agricultural business. Arom Ibrahim Daniel, head of the advisory committee, will provide strategic guidelines for the program's implementation, which seeks to address the rising number of disabilities in the region.
