Lesotho FA Demands FIFA Explanation Over South Africa Ineligible Player

Lesotho FA has written to FIFA demanding an explanation after South Africa fielded an ineligible player against them. The player, Teboho Mokoena, had received two yellow cards in previous matches, making him automatically suspended for the next game as per FIFA regulations.

South Africa could face sanctions, including forfeiting points and a fine of CHF 6000. Lesotho currently sits 5th in the table with 6 points but could move to 9 if South Africa is sanctioned.

The Lesotho FA Secretary General emphasized the need for FIFA to protect the integrity of the game. Meanwhile, South Africa leads CAF Group C with 17 points.
