Liverpool FC's €484m Investment Ends in Trophyless Season

Liverpool FC's 2025-2026 season ended without any major titles, following a substantial investment of €484 million in eight new signings during the summer. The club's hopes for silverware were dashed after a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the second leg resulting in a 2-0 loss at Anfield on April 14.

The spending spree included notable arrivals such as striker Alexand Isak from Newcastle United for €144 million, midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for €125 million, and forward Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95 million. Additional signings comprised defender Milo Kerkez from Bournemouth, wing-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, center-back Giovanni Leoni from Parma, goalkeeper Armin Pecs from Puskás Akadémia, and Freddi Woodman on a free transfer from Preston North End.

Despite these investments, Liverpool faced a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the League Cup and a heavy 4-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League, leading to a disappointing season.
