Nigeria's Agriculture Minister Raises Concerns Over Low Crop Yields Threatening Food Security

The Minister of State for Agriculture in Nigeria, Aliyu Abdullahi, highlighted the issue of low crop yield jeopardizing the nation's food security. He called for sustained funding and policies to enhance agricultural productivity.

Abdullahi emphasized the need to prioritize yield improvement and expand agricultural institutions to achieve self-sufficiency. He presented three bills aimed at strengthening agricultural institutions and ensuring food security, including the establishment of the Nation Rice Product Process Research Institute in Kebbi State.

Abdullahi stressed the importance of focusing on product research and innovation to bridge the current production gap and meet the country's rice demand.
