Nathaniel Idowu U-14 Football League Kicks Off in Lagos, Promising Grassroots Talent Development

The inaugural Nathaniel Idowu U-14 Football League kicked off in Oregi Ajegunle, Lagos, featuring 12 teams from across Lagos State. The league, organized by the Nathaniel Idowu Foundation, aims to promote grassroots football development and provide a stage for young talents.

The tournament will run for 11 weeks, culminating in a Super 4 round-robin stage to determine the overall champion. Notable results included Fortun FC's 5-0 victory over Divine Bless FC and Pure Talent FC's 2-0 win against Coal City FC.

McAnthoni Anuforo Anaelechukwu, the Director-General of Ajeromi Ifelodun Sport Council, expressed confidence in the league's potential to discover future football stars like Nwankwo Kanu, Jay-Jay Okocha, and Odion Ighalo from Ajegunle. The league offers enticing cash prizes and a 10-week football training program for secondary school girls at the new Maracana Stadium.
