Malaysia Sets Salary Requirement for 10-Year Residence Pass

Malaysia has announced that foreign workers must earn a minimum monthly salary of RM15,000 to qualify for the 10-year renewable Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T). This program, managed by TalentCorp in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Immigration Department of Malaysia, was introduced in April 2011 to attract highly skilled expatriates.
To be eligible, candidates must have worked in Malaysia for at least three uninterrupted years, hold a valid Employment Pass with more than three months remaining, possess a Malaysian income tax file number, and have paid income taxes for at least two consecutive years. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of five years of work experience and hold at least a diploma from a recognized institution, or a higher degree, or a professional certificate from a recognized body.
The RP-T aims to provide stability for foreign professionals already in Malaysia, allowing them to change employers without needing to reapply for a new Employment Pass.
