Atiku Abubakar Denies Corruption Claims Over Mambilla Project

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council of misrepresenting the Mambilla arbitration outcome. He claimed the APC turned the tribunal's findings into a corruption verdict against him.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku responded to the APC's allegations linking him to the Mambilla power project controversy. He argued that the APC selectively interpreted the arbitration award, asserting that his role as Vice-President under former President Olusegun Obasanjo did not imply involvement in every government decision.

Atiku specifically denied participating in the technical evaluation or procurement process that recommended Sunrise Power. He challenged the APC to provide evidence of any corrupt actions, particularly regarding a $500,000 bribe allegation, stating that the tribunal did not find any such wrongdoing attributed to him.
