MAN Advocates for Reduced Foreign Supply Dependence in Nigeria

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), under the leadership of President Francis Meshioye, has called for urgent measures to decrease Nigeria's dependence on foreign supply chains. During a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Meshioye emphasized that geopolitical tensions and global economic disruptions have highlighted the vulnerabilities of relying excessively on external supply chains.

He stated that Nigeria's industrial strategy must adapt to the changing global economic landscape and mitigate risks associated with external dependencies. Meshioye identified key priorities for strengthening domestic industrial capacity, including macroeconomic stability, infrastructure development, affordable long-term finance, a stable foreign exchange environment, and a predictable regulatory framework.

He pointed out that the National Industrial Policy 2025, launched by the Federal Government in April 2026, presents an opportunity to address structural weaknesses in Nigeria's industrial development. MAN's 54th Annual General Meeting, scheduled for October 5 to October 7, will focus on leveraging this policy to enhance Nigeria's position as Africa's industrial hub.
