Chimezie Metu Approaches Transfer to Galatasaray

Chimezie Metu, a power forward and former NBA player, is close to finalizing a transfer to Galatasaray in Istanbul, Turkey. This move comes after a successful period with Gran Canaria, where he joined mid-season in 2025-26.

Metu made a strong comeback from an Achilles tendon rupture in March 2025, averaging 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds over 12 appearances in the ACB League, shooting 50% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range. He reached double figures in 11 out of 12 games, with standout performances including 18 points against Baskonia, 17 points and eight rebounds against Unicaja, and 15 points against Valencia Basket.

Metu also had a solid EuroLeague debut season with Barcelona in 2024-25, averaging 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and shooting 62.4% from two-point range. His season high was 21 points against Anadolu Efes, and he consistently registered double-digit points and performance index ratings throughout the season.
