Micheal Jackson's new biopic ‘Michael’ made box office history by crossing $100 million worldwide on its opening day, marking a significant achievement in the entertainment industry. The film had a massive opening weekend in 2026, setting a new record and pulling in impressive numbers across the United States and Canada.

The global total reached $82 million, showcasing its strong worldwide appeal, with 6.3 million people attending the movie during its opening weekend. According to Enttellig, the film's debut was projected to be a record-breaking 4.9 million admissions.

Interestingly, the film's earnings did not slow down over the weekend; it experienced a 21% jump in earnings on Saturday compared to Friday, despite preview removals. The film's premium screenings, particularly in IMAX, contributed significantly, making it the biggest IMAX opening ever for a music biopic in North America, with IMAX alone accounting for $13.8 million across 427 screens.

However, the production faced challenges, including controversies regarding the portrayal of certain characters related to Jackson's estate, which required an additional 20 days of filming and around $50 million in added costs, pushing the total budget significantly higher.
