Pope Leo XIV Calls for Peace Amid Middle East Conflict

During his Palm Sunday homily, Pope Leo XIV emphasized that God does not listen to the prayers of those who engage in warfare, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He noted that Christians in the region are suffering significantly due to the violence, which has hindered their ability to fully observe sacred rites during the holy season.

The Pope called for an immediate ceasefire and urged all parties involved in the conflict to engage in dialogue to end hostilities. He highlighted the plight of over a million displaced individuals as a result of the conflict, which has been ongoing since February 28, following reports of strikes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The 70-year-old pontiff, the first American to lead the Catholic Church, has consistently condemned war and advocated for peace without naming specific parties involved in the conflict.
