Nigeria Secures TBEA Commitment for Power Industrial Park

Joseph Tegbe, the Minister of Power, has secured a commitment from TBEA, a leading Chinese equipment manufacturer, to establish a power and energy equipment industrial park in Nigeria. This commitment was made during a high-level meeting at TBEA’s Beijing headquarters as part of Tegbe's working visit to engage original equipment manufacturers and technical partners of the Presidential Power Initiative.

The proposed industrial park aims to position Nigeria as a manufacturing and export hub for critical power-sector equipment, reducing reliance on imports and fostering local production, job creation, and the development of indigenous suppliers. Tegbe emphasized TBEA's role as a long-term strategic development partner and reiterated the Federal Government's goal of attracting investors who contribute technology transfer and local capacity.

Additionally, TBEA committed to accelerating ongoing transmission and distribution projects, which are expected to unlock over 2,000MW of stranded capacity. The discussions also included the feasibility of electric-vehicle charging infrastructure in Nigeria, reflecting a broader shift in the country's power sector towards local manufacturing and modernization.
