Nigeria's High Commission in South Africa Faces Power Cut Over Budget Delay

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs blames budget delays for the power supply disconnection at the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa. The City of Tshwane, where the mission is located, confirmed the power cut.

The Ministry's spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, explained that the unpaid bills were a result of budget constraints due to delayed budget passage. President Bola Tinubu has approved ambassadorial appointments for several countries, including the UK, France, US, and South Africa.

However, the Nigerian mission in Pretoria operates without a substantive ambassador, leading to administrative and operational challenges. Efforts are underway to resolve the arrears and restore electricity promptly.
