Messi Returns as Inter Miami Draws 2-2 with Columbus Crew

Lionel Messi made his return to Major League Soccer on Saturday after participating in the World Cup, entering the match for Inter Miami against Columbus Crew in the 53rd minute at Miami’s Nu Stadium. Despite the excitement of his return, Messi was unable to score, missing two opportunities.

Inter Miami initially took the lead with a goal from Uruguayan Luis Suarez in the 16th minute, marking his seventh goal in four games. However, an own goal by Miami’s Casemiro in the 34th minute equalized the score at 1-1.

Suarez assisted Noah Allen, who headed Miami into a 2-1 lead by halftime. In the 84th minute, Brais Mendez, making his debut for Columbus after transferring from Real Sociedad, scored from a free-kick to level the match at 2-2.

This result ended Miami’s six-match winning streak and left them in second place in the Eastern Conference, trailing Nashville.
