Rufai Oseni Claims Obi's Funds Can Clear Anambra Debt

Rufai Oseni, an Arise News anchor, asserted that the $156 million left by former Anambra Governor Peter Obi in the state’s account is adequate to settle the alleged ₦127 million debt claimed by the Anambra State Government. The government has stated it is still managing debts from Obi's tenure.

In response, Obi, through Yunusa Tanko, the Interim Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, released handover documents dated March 17, 2024, which outlined Anambra State's financial status, showing a net positive balance exceeding N86 billion. During an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show,’ Oseni argued that even if Obi had taken loans, the funds remaining in the state’s account would suffice to clear the debts claimed by current Governor Soludo, unless there are undisclosed debts.
