Cooking Gas Price Soars 44.5% in Nigeria, Adamawa Tops Cost Chart

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported a 44.5% increase in the average retail price of cooking gas in Nigeria from July 2024 to July 2025. While there was a slight decrease in costs from June to July 2025, the overall trend has been a significant rise in prices.

The NBS highlighted that Adamawa had the highest average price for a 5kg cylinder, while Yobe and Niger had the lowest. This price hike poses economic challenges for Nigerians, impacting household budgets and affordability of essential cooking gas.

The data indicates a concerning trend of escalating gas prices, particularly affecting consumers in various regions of the country.
