Rabat Ranked Tenth for Most Expensive African Rentals in 2026

According to a report based on the Numbeo global cost of living database, Rabat, Morocco, is expected to rank as the tenth most expensive city in Africa for renting homes in 2026. The city's estimated population is around 2 million people.

The rental market in Rabat is concentrated in neighborhoods with strong access to employment and transport hubs. For entry-level two-bedroom units in the Tabriquet area, typical rents range from 3,500 to 6,500 MAD (approximately $380 to $710).

In more central neighborhoods like Agdal and Hassan, mid-range two-bedroom units can command rents between 7,000 and 12,000 MAD ($760 to $1,310). Premium three-bedroom units in the Hai Riad Haut Agdal area can reach rents of 12,000 to 20,000 MAD ($1,310 to $2,180).

This increase in rental prices is indicative of strong demand and inflationary pressures in the housing market.
