MTN Group Projects Fourfold Earnings Increase in Nigeria

MTN Group Ltd has projected a fourfold increase in its earnings for the full year, driven by a recovery in its operations in Nigeria and Ghana. In a trade statement issued on Monday from its Johannesburg headquarters, the telecommunications giant expects its headline earnings per share to range between 10.62 rand and 11.68 rand by the end of December.

This marks a significant turnaround from the previous year's losses, particularly in Nigeria, where the company recorded a loss of N400 billion in 2024. The improved performance is attributed to stronger operational conditions and effective cost management.

MTN Nigeria and MTN Ghana together account for 40% of the group's revenue. MTN Ghana reported a 36.2% year-on-year increase in service revenue, amounting to GH₵24.4 billion, with an EBITDA of GH₵14.7 billion, reflecting a 43.5% rise.

Additionally, MTN Ghana contributed GH₵10.5 billion in direct and indirect taxes, underscoring its role in national development.
