Newcastle United Advances to Champions League Last 16

Newcastle United secured their place in the UEFA Champions League Last 16 with a 3-2 victory over Qarabag on February 24. Winger Jacob Murphy, when asked about potential opponents, expressed a preference for either FC Barcelona or Chelsea FC in the next round.

Head coach Eddie Howe echoed this sentiment, stating satisfaction with reaching the knockout stage but insisting that Newcastle's ambitions extend further. The team has shown impressive form, achieving six wins in a single Champions League campaign, a record for the club.

Despite a recent Premier League defeat to Brentford, Newcastle has won four of their last five matches across competitions. Defender Dan Burn noted that the team's performances demonstrate they can compete with any opponent.

Currently, Newcastle sits 11th in the Premier League standings.
