Dangote Refinery Raises Cooking Gas Price to N800/kg Amid Market Disruptions

Dangote Refinery has raised the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, to N800 per kilogram from N715. This adjustment, the refinery's first major one this year, follows market disruptions and increased domestic demand.

Industry players like AA Rano, NAVGAS, and Ardova have also adjusted their prices accordingly. The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) notes concerns over the uneven cost burden on consumers due to the price hike.

Olatunbosun Oladapo, the immediate past president of NALPGAM, highlights the growth in the country's LPG consumption but warns about supply challenges. The new price from Dangote Refinery is expected to serve as a benchmark for distributors and retailers, with ongoing monitoring by regulatory authorities to prevent exploitation of consumers.
