Ondo State Government Fumigates NAF Crash Site for Health

The Ondo State Government has ordered the fumigation of the river near the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft crash site in Igbokoda to prevent a potential disease outbreak. This decision was made after residents reported a foul odor and concerns about environmental pollution.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa directed the Ministries of Environment and Health to carry out extensive fumigation. The government is also distributing nose masks and essential health kits to residents in Igbokoda, located in Ilaje Local Government Area.
The Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Afolabi Odidiomo, raised alarms about decomposing human remains from the crash affecting the community's health and water supply. The NAF ATR-42 aircraft crashed on October 5, resulting in the deaths of all 25 individuals on board.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Environment, Tob Loko, stated that the government is assessing the environmental impact and collaborating with the federal government on recovery efforts.
