Nigerian Air Force Searches for Black Boxes After Crash

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated a search for the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder of its ATR-42 aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing 25 individuals, including 20 passengers and five crew members. The aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin City, Edo State, to Lagos when it crashed into a swamp near the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base in Igbokoda on Monday.
On Friday, Air Vice Marshal Ebimobo Ebiowe, the NAF Superintendent of Standards and Evaluation, stated that investigators are focusing on retrieving critical components of the wreckage that could clarify the crash's circumstances. He specifically mentioned the flight data recorder (FDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) as essential for understanding the aircraft's final moments.
Aviation expert Olugbenga Afolabi confirmed that these recorders are vital for reconstructing events leading to the crash.
