NAFDAC Raids 25 Counterfeit Alcohol Factories in Lagos

On October 14, NAFDAC's enforcement team discovered over 25 fake alcoholic beverage factories at the Zamfara and Niger Plazas within the Trade Fair Complex, located along the Badagry Expressway in Ojo, Lagos State. The operation involved a two-storey building with 12 shops on each floor, primarily used for producing fake, adulterated, or revalidated expired products.
Director of the Enforcement unit, Kunle Ojo, reported that the raid was conducted based on gathered intelligence, although most suspects escaped through the front gate, with two individuals arrested. Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Christiana Obiazikwor, expressed concern over the desperation of those involved in such activities.
She emphasized NAFDAC's commitment to combating counterfeit products, stating that the agency conducts daily raids to prevent these dangerous items from circulating in the market. Obiazikwor called for public collaboration to report fake producers, assuring that whistle-blowers' identities would be protected.
