NAICOM and BPP Sign MoU to Enhance Insurance Compliance

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) have formalized their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening compliance in public procurement processes related to the insurance industry in Nigeria. The signing took place during a visit by BPP's Director General, Adebowale Adedokun, to NAICOM, where Olusegun Omosehin, the Commissioner for Insurance, highlighted the importance of this partnership in promoting growth and regulatory oversight within the insurance sector.

The MoU is part of NAICOM's ongoing reforms following the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act of 2025, which includes initiatives for recapitalization and enhancing financial resilience. Key objectives of the MoU include establishing a platform to monitor insurance coverage for public procurement items and ensuring adherence to established rules and standards.

The collaboration is expected to support Nigeria's economic transformation goals, emphasizing transparency and accountability in public asset management.
