NAICOM and NIA Push for Media Collaboration in Insurance

The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) have advocated for closer collaboration with the media, specifically through the Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE), to enhance insurance penetration and public confidence. This call was made during the investiture of NAIPE's newly elected executives in Lagos.

Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of NAICOM, represented by Dr.

Julius Odidi, emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among regulators, operators, and the media in building a stronger insurance industry. Omosehin urged insurance journalists to maintain professionalism and integrity in their reporting, stressing that public trust is vital for the insurance and pension sectors.

He also encouraged NAIPE members to adopt interpretative journalism to simplify insurance concepts for the public. Mrs.

Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, Chairperson of NIA, represented by Mrs. Bola Odukale, expressed confidence that the new NAIPE leadership would enhance media collaboration with the insurance industry.
