NANS Calls for Investigation into Abduction of NYSC Members

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for an urgent investigation into the abduction of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. NANS, through its National President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, reported that the victims were traveling in two buses when one driver stopped to give money to someone, leading to the abduction by armed men.
Notably, neither driver was taken by the kidnappers, raising suspicions about the incident. NANS urged security agencies to investigate UDUA KING Transport Service's involvement and suggested suspending the company's operations until the investigation concludes.
The association emphasized the need for accountability regarding the safety of students. Meanwhile, the kidnappers have reduced their ransom demand from N50 million to N5 million per victim, totaling N100 million for all 20 victims.
One parent, Alimot Akande, confirmed that the kidnappers communicated the new demand to families, establishing contact via mobile phones.
