NANS-RN Demands Probe into Niger's Accreditation List Dispute

The National Association of Nigerian Students in the Republic of Niger (NANS-RN) has called for an immediate investigation into a disputed list of accredited institutions in Niger, which they allege was not verified by competent authorities. Amb.

Mukailu Ibrahim Mai Lafiya, Chairman of the NANS-RN Stakeholders Committee, stated that the original list was obtained through the Nigerian Embassy in Niger and confirmed by relevant Nigerian authorities. However, a conflicting list emerged from the Nigeria-Niger Joint Commission, which NANS-RN disputes.

Mai Lafiya emphasized the need for clarity on the origins of the disputed list and urged the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to engage the Nigerien Government for authentication. He also called for an investigation into the involvement of officials within the Department of Education Support Services, warning against any obstruction of legitimate processes.

NANS-RN President Muhammad Abubakar Uwaisu expressed concerns over intimidation faced by student leaders advocating for transparency and affirmed the association's commitment to supporting affected students.
