NAPTIP Arrests Woman for Alleged Newborn Trafficking in Abia

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) arrested a woman in Abia State for the alleged trafficking of a newborn baby. The state commander, Izunna Iwobi, reported that the arrest took place at a hospital where the woman was attempting to take delivery of the baby after negotiating with a prospective buyer.
The suspect is currently detained by NAPTIP and will be charged in court following the completion of investigations. Additionally, Iwobi disclosed that a 56-year-old man from Umuire Omoba in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area was arrested for allegedly recruiting underage boys for sexual exploitation.
This arrest followed community complaints and investigations revealing that the man had been exploiting vulnerable boys by providing them food and subjecting them to sexual abuse. The man has been remanded at the Umuahia Correctional Facility, with further legal proceedings anticipated after investigations conclude.
