Abuja to Host National Grassroots Sports Summit 2026

The National Grassroots Sports Development Summit 2026 is scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja. Organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Prince Adeyinka Adegboye, the summit focuses on creating a sustainable pathway for grassroots sports development in Nigeria.

It aims to strengthen the foundation of sports by discovering, nurturing, and progressing sporting talents. The summit emphasizes that grassroots sports are crucial for young athletes, providing them with opportunities to develop skills and pursue structured careers.

It seeks to address the lack of structured opportunities for talented young Nigerians and promote a coordinated approach to grassroots sports, linking talent identification with coaching, education, facilities, and athlete welfare. One of the major discussions will focus on the challenges and future directions for grassroots sports development in Nigeria.
