Nnadubem Moghalu Leads Efforts on Nigeria's Policing Bill

The Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill is intensifying its efforts to create national minimum standards and safeguards for Nigeria's proposed dual policing system. Nnadubem Moghalu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Planning and Research and Secretary of the Working Group, made this announcement in Abuja while delivering the lead lecture at the Second Annual Distinguished Parliamentary Lecture organized by the House of Representatives Press Corps.
The proposed framework aims to establish an operational structure that includes both the Federal Police Service and State Police Services, addressing national standards, accountability, human rights safeguards, state readiness, and federal-state coordination. This development coincides with the ongoing constitutional amendment process across State Houses of Assembly, where, as of October 6, four states (Edo, Rivers, Osun, and Oyo) have approved the amendment.
A minimum of 24 state assemblies must approve the constitutional alteration for it to proceed.
